Testing

Obtaining your CNA credentials in Whatcom County has never been easier!

Graduates of LHE’s nursing assistant certification program need to pass a skills test before registering for the written test. Skills testing is conveniently facilitated at LHE, in an environment you are familiar with.

When you pass the skills test, a program representative will guide you through the written test registration process and help you apply for your credentials through the Washington State Department of Health.

Requirements

To enroll and complete classes through LHE, you will need the following:

Social Security Number: A valid SSN is required for LHE training and for the Washington state board CNA examination.

Background check: These are required for all CNA trainees in Washington state. Enrolled students get this check provided at no additional cost.

Negative tuberculosis test: All CNA students in Washington state are required to have a negative TB test. We can administer this for you as part of the enrollment process.

Uniform: Students must wear scrubs to class. More information on accepted attire is provided on the FAQ page.

Training materials: All students are provided with the required training materials at no additional cost. These will be distributed on the first day of class.

Testing standard: You will need to achieve a passing score of 80% or higher to meet the standard. You can retake one test; if you fail two tests, you will be released from the class and will need to reenroll in the training program at a future date.

Attendance standard: To meet the standard, you must be on time for all scheduled classes and remain at the training room in Lynden throughout the duration of each class, except during designated breaks and when released by the instructor. Please review the class calendar carefully and ensure your availability for every session before enrolling. Read “Do you offer make up classes” on the FAQ page for additional information.
