You may already know that Lynden Healthcare Education offers an outstanding nursing assistant certification program in Whatcom County, but did you know we conveniently offer skills testing for our students here, too?
After graduating from an approved nursing assistant certification program, all CNA students in Washington state must pass a skills test before registering for the written exam. Due to staffing shortages in recent years, some students had to wait months and travel outside of Whatcom County to find testing sites—a process that delayed graduates from earning their credentials and starting work in the long-term care industry in a timely manner.
In late 2023, the Washington State Board of Nursing worked to improve the process through a new program that allows designated RN evaluators like Karen Jemison, registered nurse and program director here at LHE, to facilitate skills testing for individuals who are currently enrolled in LHE’s nursing assistant certification program.
“The ability to test here saves LHE students so much time. They no longer need to travel significant distances to do skills testing, and testing here allows students to test in a comfortable environment they are familiar with,” said Jemison.
LHE students who pass the skills test also have access to a program representative who can help them register for the written test and complete the credential application process through the Washington State Department of Health.
By providing a high-quality CNA training program, convenient skills testing and assistance through the CNA credential process, Lynden Healthcare Education students are empowered with the knowledge and skills necessary to become proficient long-term care nursing assistants.
