What to expect from the nursing assistant certification program at Lynden Healthcare Education

If you are looking to start a rewarding career in the long-term care industry, Lynden Healthcare Education’s certified nursing assistant training program in Lynden can equip you with the knowledge and skills you need to succeed. In attending the 24 required classroom sessions, you’ll study several topics that are critical to the role of long-term care nursing assistant, including but not limited to the following:

Comprehensive training. The program includes 24 required classroom sessions covering essential topics, such as patient care techniques, infection control and resident rights.

Hands-on experience. Classes are divided into theory and skills sections with daily theory tests to reinforce learning, practice of long-term care nursing skills to build confidence and floor rotations in a local skilled nursing center to provide real care to residents and patients.

Expert instruction. The program is led by Dianne Anderson, who is certified by the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology and works as an infection preventionist. She also coordinates medication audits for nursing staff and serves as a staff development coordinator in the long-term care industry.

Emphasis on proficiency. The program emphasizes practice to ensure students are proficient in the required knowledge and abilities to pass the Washington state CNA test.

Classes are held in Lynden, Washington, Monday through Thursday. Weeks 1 to 4 include an introduction, orientation and training from 6 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Clinicals take place in Weeks 5 and 6 from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Week 6 includes skills practice and testing.
